The Gold Stilts shows a market square and cobbled street seen through flowers in window boxes, mostly blotchy mimulus blooms. A man on solid gold stilts is walking through a crowd, showing their reactions to someone who is set apart by fame and/or riches. A boy tries to climb one of the greasy poles and a couple tries to steal the other, but he largely passes unseen over the heads of his peers.
