Situated in the heart of Cambridge, Primavera is an independent art gallery in a three-storey Grade II listed building facing King's College. We house a wide range of British contemporary collections including paintings, ceramics, jewellery, glass, sculpture and textiles.
Established in 1945, our aim is to display and contrast British artists' work in an engaging and accessible way so that each piece can be fully appreciated. Visitors have the opportunity to touch, feel and interact with the artwork within the setting of an exquisite and historic location.
Our upstairs gallery space has a historical connection to Charles Lamb, the renowned poet and essayist, who resided here in 1819.
Henry Rothschild, founder of Primavera, was an influential figure in British contemporary crafts. His acclaimed selling exhibitions launched the careers of many renowned British studio potters.
Hans Coper, one of Britain's significant studio potters, held his debut solo exhibition at Primavera on Sloane Street in 1958.
