Beautiful Celtic dragonesque brooch intact with original enamel and pin.
The pin at the back is fragile and therefore should not be used. Were this piece to be worn, then I would suggest that it be worn as a necklace with a chain threaded through the pin at the back, and for safety’s sake attached to the brooch using plasticised wire, thus keeping the brooch in its original condition and preserving its value.
It is hard to date these brooches. It could have been made before the Roman invasion and/or dated B.C. or the beginning of the first century A.D.
