Rebecca Smith
Pruden and Smith was formed in 1988 by Rebecca Smith and Anton Pruden in Ditchling, Sussex, just a few miles North of Brighton
Rebecca Smith trained as a fine artist at Farnham Art College. Designing primarily in precious metals and gemstones there is a recognizable freedom of expression in her designs. This unique background ensures the best in contemporary design in Pruden and Smiths jewellery ranges. She also runs a very specialist design service: turning existing jewellery, often inherited and unwanted, into stunning contemporary designs.
Anton’s grandfather Dunstan Pruden was the silversmith in the Eric Gill-founded Guild of St. Joseph & St. Dominic on Ditchling Common. Anton’s training with Dunstan’s daughter Angela & her husband Philip Lowery in Gloucestershire was steeped in the combination of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary art & design so justly valued in British Arts & Crafts. This high quality is at the heart of the products showcased on this website.
