Painter Marina Yedigaroff is based in Ely, Cambridge. Marina takes inspiration from Russian folklore, she is fascinated by light and dark, and she also enjoys poetry.
Marina paints on a variety of surfaces including; walls, wooden panels, furniture and fabric to discover the surface which will give her the desired lighting and texture for a piece.
The colours of a piece are often dependant on the mood Marina is in, ‘the darker the mood, the darker the colours’. Focusing on the colour aspect Marina’s paintings can take on quite a mysterious narrative with dark tones leading into lighter areas which you can follow all over the painting. Adding to this are the intriguing subjects that she paints, sometimes objects sometimes people which compel you to keep looking.
