Diana Porter

Diana Porter is from Bristol and a single mother of two children. She originally trained as a teacher, going on to be greatly involved in theatre companies in London and Bristol; it wasn’t until 1990 that she went to the University of Central England to study a degree in Jewellery and Silversmithing. Diana started her own jewellery business in her front room, leading to 1999 when she was awarded UK Jewellery Designer of the Year. She has also been approved by the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths and been invited to join the Who’s Who in Gold and Silver directory.

Diana is passionate about feminism and equal rights for disabled people and ethnic minorities; she has taken part in campaigns for equal opportunities and demonstrated again nuclear armaments. She believes in keeping the production of her work in the UK and is proud to make her jewellery in Fair trade Gold.

One of the techniques she uses in her craft is silver jewellery etched with gold, creating intricate pieces with minute detail.
