CJ Van Dop
Cornelius was born in the Netherlands in 1945 and moved to Canada at the age of six. In 1968 he gained a degree in Philosophy at the University of Ontario. For a number of years he taught at art colleges in Canada and Britain. Now he concentrates on metalwork and jewellery making.
He moved to Cornwall and set up his own workshop in 1973 and began to create wonderful boxes using different metals; Silver, Gold, Nickel, Copper, and Bronze are used for colour where appropriate.
Pieces are cut-out, soldered, textured, assembled and polished. Each of his pieces is a unique study of nature and/or wildlife. His work is greatly influenced by the Japanese metal tradition and the countryside surrounding him.
