Jane Ray

Illustration Jane RayFrom stranded mermaids and fire breathing dragons to dancing princesses and a basket of sweets, Jane Ray's distinctive style has established her as a successful picture book artist, recognised in Britain, Europe and the U.S. Known mainly for her books for children, Jane has also designed greetings cards, posters and bookjackets. Jane has worked with many authors, including Michael Rosen, Jeanette Winterson, Carol Ann Duffy and Vikram Seth.

Jane began her career designing greeting cards for Roger la Borde, for whom she still works. She then moved on to children’s books and has to this day developed an international reputation. Although she illustrates for children’s books her work exudes excellent craftsmanship in the amount of detail and character which is brought across. The use of gold too brings a luxury to the painting which is not often found in children’s books.

Primavera has a collection of original paintings by Jane.
