We are delighted to announce a new exhibition of captivating sculptures by Philip Hearsey at Primavera.
A self-taught sculptor with a background in architecture and design, Hearsey brings a unique sensibility to the ancient medium of bronze. He specializes in sand-casting to create pieces that engage the quality of bronze as a noble material in its own right.
Whereas bronze is most often used to reproduce a work originally conceived in another medium, Philip Hearsey uses the sand-casting process to create vessel forms that honour and explore the qualities of bronze as a material in its own right. To colour the pieces he uses patination and recently he has been using a traditional technique of painting the bronze which contrasts with the patination.

Solid and heavy, yet graceful in line and remarkable in the vibrancy of patination, forms are pure: primordial in origin; subtle, elegant and seemingly weightless as they draw the eye to become objects of contemplation.
